Everyone's wishing one another "Happy New Year"
I guess i should do the same thing, but i won't.
why?
Because, i dont believe in New Years. Yes, you're probably wondering how you can NOT believe that new years exist, i mean, obviously its the day that the year skips ahead by 1. However, there's nothing new about that. it occurs every year. And also, its a meaningless name. Old memories still remain and continue to haunt you even after the new year and at the same time, the future hardly changes. There's nothing to celebrate. really. 1 day dosen't change the year.
Take for example this statement
"2008 was a bad economic year. hopefully 2009 will be better"
People celebrate 1 day of NO WORK just over this statement? Its not as though their 1 day of absence from work to celebrate will have an impact over the future. In fact its bound to cause more economic problems.
Adding to that, New year resolutions are even meaningless. People make them and rarely remember or even keep to them. Their resolve in the resolutions are weak. They are only made under compulsion and peer pressure. Resolutions should only be made when there is strong resolve to change for the better. If not, making them is as meaningful as jumping on a tramploine in the winter.
Thus, i do not believe the new year is a time to celebrate. sorry.
erm, so il end by saying
Happy Future
